SITE: Architecture as Art

$65.00

Restany, Pierre, Bruno Zevi, and SITE. St. Martin's Press, 1980. Softbound. In 1972, Best Products, a chain of American catalog showrooms founded 15 years earlier by an encyclopedia salesman with an interest in art, contracted with James Wines's Sculpture in the Environment (SITE) architecture firm to design a series of maximally postmodern retail facilities. This monograph dives deep into some of these strip-mall showstoppers: Houston's ruins-inspired Indeterminate Facade, Richmond's mind-melting Peeling Wall, Sacramento's cornerstone-sliding Notch Building, and more.

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some bumped corners, light edge-wear, and a one-inch crease to the half-title. There is a one- by one-inch area where the lamination has come away from the back cover. 112 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
