Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There
Carroll, Lewis and Ralph Steadman (Illustrated by). Clarkson N. Potter, 1973. Softbound. Design by Brian J. Green. A postmodern take on the classic tale, with adventurous columnar layout, mirror-inspired typography, textual research by Carrolliana scholar and collector Selwyn Goodacre, and art by iconic Hunter S. Thompson collaborator Steadman, who, according to the back cover copy, 'takes the commonly accepted view that the White Knight is Lewis Carroll himself', modeling the melancholic gallant after the author's well-known portrait.
Tight, square spine has some cosmetic creasing. Clean, unmarked interior. Areas of moderate edge-wear. Some bumped corners and a one-inch crease to the back cover at the fore-edge foot. A few small areas of subtle soiling to the covers and a one-inch closed tear to the front cover at the fore-edge. 144 pp. Oversized.
