Aesop and Eric Carle (Illustrated by). Peter Pauper Press, 1965. Hardbound. An early example of Carle's relief-printed illustration work, anticipating the iconic collage images that would eventually define his style. Founded by Peter Beilenson in 1928 in his parents' basement, Peter Pauper Press was just one of many projects the publisher/printer juggled in the years before he married typographer Edna Rudolph, who helped dial in the company's role as producer of fine press books for a mass audience (Beilenson's imprint Blue-Behinded Ape issued often erotic works deemed too 'unrespectable' for Peter Pauper).

Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some bumped corners, but no other notable wear to the book. Jacket has some light to moderate edge-wear and areas of light rubbing/soiling. 62 pp. Children.
