The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage
Mathers, S. L. MacGregor (Trans.). Dover Publications, 1975. Cover design by Edmund V. Gillon Jr. Part grimoire, part epistolary novel, the Book of Abramelin depicts an encounter with an elderly Egyptian mage, a Kabbalistic predecessor of sorts to Castaneda's Don Juan. A charming Dover publication of the definitive translation by Mathers, an associate of both Blavatsky and Crowley, although the Beast and he would later feud, leading Crowley to base the villain in his 1917 novel, Moonchild, on Mathers.
Tight, square spine. Former owner name to inside front cover, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Some areas of light to moderate edge-wear and some small, subtle creases to the cover, as well as a patch of adhesive remainder to the back. 268 pp. Western Esotericism.
