Hidden Symbolism of Alchemy and the Occult Arts
Silberer, Herbert. Dover Publications, 1971. Softbound. Another lovely Dover publication, featuring cover design by the press' workhorse Edmund V. Gillon, Jr., who was responsible for its long-running Cut & Assemble and The Way ThIngs Work paper model series. This edition retains the original 1917 typesetting, and the back cover touts the text as 'antedat[ing] the work of Jung by a generation'. Silberer's interest in metaphysics led to his censure by Freud and the Vienna School, an overwhelming rejection that would contribute to his suicide by hanging in 1923.
Tight, square, uncreased spine has some very light sunning. Former owner name to first (blank) leaf, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Some bumped corners and areas of light to moderate edge-wear. 451 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
