BSP's self-taught virtuoso Barbara Martin incorporates an irresistible drawing by house favorite Bukowski into this letterpress printed cover, along with Warren Chappell's calligraphic title face, Lydian, which cheekily references one of the novel's most memorable characters: Lydia Vance, based on Bukowski's former girlfriend, sculptor and poet Linda King. Bukowski stand-in Henry Chinaski is asked his favorite novelist several times throughout the book; he responds with answers varying from Knut Hamsun to John Fante ('Fante was my god,' the actual Bukowski once remarked).
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. An area of very faint soiling to the back cover and some very subtle foxing to the top edge, but no other notable wear. 291 pp. Fiction.
