Albers, Josef. Yale University Press, 2006. Softbound. Albers taught at the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College, and Yale's graphic design program, mentoring everyone from Cy Twombly to Eva Hesse. Over the decades, he logged hours of color experiments both in the classroom and out, most notably in his Homage to Square series, studies of nested squares painted on Masonite with a palette knife and oil colors, leading up to this pedagogical study of chromatic interactions, in which he famously proclaims that 'color deceives continually.'
In lovely shape: tight, square, uncreased spine; clean, unmarked interior; only the very gentlest of shelf-wear. 145 pp. Design.
