The Rings of Saturn

The Rings of Saturn

$40.00

Wakoski, Diane. Black Sparrow Press, 1986. Softbound. Signed by Wakoski to the title page. Saturn is the only classical planet named for the Titans—the old gods—rather than the Olympians; ancient texts call it the 'Sun of Night', and the idea that our solar system once circled the ringed planet was popularized in the 20th century by Immanuel Velikovsky. 'Change me from / this garbage / into something pure,' Wakoski writes in this Cronusian collection, just six years after she remarked in an interview, 'I think Diane the poet is the centre of the universe, and I have no qualms in putting her there, running things.'

Tight, square, uncreased spine has some sunning. Clean, unmarked interior. Some areas of soiling to the covers, light foxing to the fore-edge, and moderate to heavy edge-wear. 122 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
