Tales by LeRoi Jones
Jones, LeRoi (Amiri Baraka). Grove Press, 1967 (3rd Evergreen Printing). Softbound. Cover photo by Bob Adelman. Jones cofounded the Black Arts Movement, was a member of the Umbra Poets Workshop alongside Ishmael Reed and Lorenzo Thomas, once threw a party where Allen Ginsberg was introduced to Langston Hughes while Ornette Coleman played saxophone, and took on the name Amiri Baraka after Malcolm X's death. This collection, infused with influences equal parts Joyce and jazz, documents the writer's early evolution from Beat-adjacent mischief maker to Black nationalist–identified powerhouse.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some moderate edge-wear and a subtle three-inch crease to the front cover, but no other notable wear. 132 pp. Fiction.
