Baby Driver
Kerouac, Jan. St. Martin's Press, 1981 (1st Ed.). Hardbound. Design by Manuela Paul. Jacket design by Deborah Daly. The daughter of an American literary legend, Kerouac took on her absentee father's name at his urging (as depicted here in an unforgettable scene portraying the On the Road Writer drunkenly watching Beverly Hillbillies), only to wind up perpetually being confused for him due to a mere two-letter difference. What her style lacks in overt 'Kerouacian' transcendence, it more than makes up for in sincerity and pure, picaresque, road-trip magnetism, as captured here by frequent Heavy Metal magazine cover artist Jim Cherry.
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Metallic stamping to spine remains bright. Some bumped corners, but no other notable shelf-wear to the book. Mylar-protected jacket is not price-clipped and has a few areas of light edge-wear. 208 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
