Two by Henry Miller
Miller, Henry. Sextet. Capra Press, 1977. Softbound. $15.
Miller, Henry. Joey: A Loving Portrait of Alfred Perlès Together With Some Bizzare Episodes Relating to the Other Sex. Capra Press, 1979. Softbound. Cover design by Mary Schlesinger. $25.
Two later works by Miller, both issued by Noel Young's Capra Press, which also published titles by luminaries including Anaïs Nin, Raymond Carver, and Ursula K. Le Guin. Sextet compiles pieces covering subjects ranging from Yukio Mishima to Jakob Wassermann. And Joey, Volume III of Miller's Book of Friends, is a reprise that builds off of his earlier work as it explores the writer's relationship with former roommate Alfred Perlès (Miller was in turn a subject of at least two Perlès texts: Henry Miller at Villa Seurat and My Friend Henry Miller).
Both books have tight, square, uncreased spines, although there is some sunning to Sextet's. Both have unmarked interiors, although there are some areas of subtle soiling to the inside front cover and half-title of Joey, likely due to a printer's error. Both have light edge-wear and a few areas of very minor shelf-wear to their covers. Creative Nonfiction.
