The Centre of the Cyclone: An Autobiography of Inner Space
Lilly, John C. Paladin, 1973. Softbound. An irresistible celebration of the crown chakra to the cover of this UK edition of Lilly's unconventional autobiography, a gouache rendering by the great Justin Todd, who, according to Mike Dempsey, 'work[ed] from one side of his watercolour paper to the other within a predetermined grid in which he [had] meticulously planned his image.' Lilly found inspiration in the subjective idealism of George Berkeley, as well as the pharmacological control methods explored in Brave New World, which eventually led to his research into dolphin communication at his NASA-funded dolphinarium in the Caribbean.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. A few very rare instances of underlining to the text, but mostly clean and unmarked. Some bumped corners and moderate edge-wear. 220 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
