Book 4
Crowley, Aleister and Mary Desti. Samuel Weiser, 1980. Softbound. Mostly channeled via Desti (mother of Preston Sturges and biographer of Isadora Duncan), Book 4 is considered by many to be The Beast's masterwork. This Weiser edition consists of parts I and II and features a quincunx-studded cover, a stunning title page, and a preface by Crowley mentee Israel Regardie, whose on-again, off-again relationship with the occultist once collapsed via correspondence: Crowley, making fun of Regardie's adoption of the name, Francis (after St. Francis of Assissi), dismissively addressed him as 'Frank', and Regardie responded by calling Crowley both 'Alice' and 'a contemptible bitch'.
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some light to moderate edge-wear, as well as areas of subtle rubbing and a two-inch crease to the front cover at the foot. 127 pp. Western Esotericism.
