Eliot fall to the floor with a brutal thump in a Catholic chapel, the result of a mystical experience. He would go on to translate the writing of Molière, Cocteau, and, as seen here, Rimbaud—collected alongside the original French to each verso and covered with a Picasso rendering of the author—work which greatly influenced Jim Morrison, whose lyrics Fowlie eventually himself included among his scholarly oeuvre.
Spine has a slight slump and some cosmetic creasing. Clean, unmarked interior. Some bumped corners and edge-wear, as well as a few very small areas of soiling to the bottom edge. 371 pp. Poetry.
