Desmoines, Harriet and Catherine Nicholson (Eds.). Saddle-stitched. Poetry edited by Susan Leigh Star. Interior and cover design by Beth Hodges. Named for Joanna Russ's novel The Female Man, this influential lesbian literary journal was founded after the two editors  met at a writing workshop, leading Desmoines to write, 'Sinister Wisdom turns . . . patriarchal values upside down as a necessary prelude to creating our own.' Printed by the iconic Iowa City Women's Press, this issue includes contributions by Audre Lorde and Adrienne Rich, and is from the collection of feminist scholar Cheris Kramarae.

The cover has torn away from the lower staple and been repaired with Scotch tape. Text block remains sound. Former owner name to the table of contents page (feminist scholar Cheris Kramerae). Some areas of highlighting to areas of the interior, but else clean and unmarked. 104 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
