Carco, Francis. Black Lizard Books, 1987. Softbound. Founded in 1984 by Wild at Heart author Barry Gifford, Black Lizard was known for reprinting 20th-century crime-focused titles, many, like this one, featuring high-camp cover illustration by Jim Kirwan, who mocked up his concept art after being given only three lines from each book he was assigned. First published in 1928 by Pascal Covici and often compared to Sade, the novel's English translation was at first misleadingly attributed to Ford Madox Ford, when in fact it is the work of the great Jean Rhys.

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Light edge-wear, but no other notable wear. 120 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
