Naked Lunch
Burroughs, William S. Grove Press, 1966 (Later Printing). Softbound. Design by Mario Marone. In early 1957, Burroughs was visited by Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg at his hotel room in the Tangier International Zone, where he was struggling to assemble a publishable version of Naked Lunch, a manuscript which, according to Paul Bowles, 'was scattered all over the floor . . . covered with grime, heelmarks, mouse-droppings.' The Olympia Press initially rejected the completed novel before later reconsidering; they sold the American rights to Grove, who after years of notorious censorship battles, would eventually release this handsome Black Cat edition.
Tight, square spine has some light creasing and a small cosmetic chip at the head. Clean, unmarked interior. Light to moderate edge-wear. 255 pp. Mass-Market Paperbacks.
