Doctor Outlandish: Drug Scene & Sundry Subjects
Spray, Charles. Outside-In / Criterion Inc., 1970. Softbound. Intro by Lendon H. Smith. In 1968, the still sleepy burg of Portland, Oregon, faced migratory waves of disaffected youth spilling over from the Summer of Love; in response to a lack of resources aimed at this new population, Spray cofounded the controversial Outside-In Sociomedical Aid Station on the summer solstice of that year. This volume collects writings first published in the alternative weekly, the Willamette Bridge, along with the wild grotesqueries of Dutch artist Henk Pander, a key collaborator with Portland avant-garde troupe, Storefront Theatre.
