Two Cult Horror Novelizations
Hardy, Robin and Anthony Shaffer. The Wicker Man. Pocket Books, 1979 (1st Pocket Books Printing). Softbound. $25.
Etchison, Dennis. The Fog. Bantam Books, 1980. Softbound. SOLD.
Two novelizations of cult cinematic horror classics. The Wicker Man was first inspired by David Pinner's 1967 novel, Ritual, which itself evolved out of the film treatment for a never-produced John Hurt vehicle, resulting in a long chain of movie-to-book-to-movie-to-book adaptations. And in Etchison's interpretation of John Carpenter and Debra Hill's script, the revenge motive is more targeted than on screen: the six victims of the Elizabeth Dane's ghost crew are descendants of the original Antonio Bay founders who conspired to sink the ship.
The Wicker Man's spine is tight, but has some creasing and a lean. It has a clean, unmarked interior and some light edge-wear and light toning to the pages. The Fog's spine is tight, but has creasing and a severe lean. It has a clean, unmarked interior and light edge-wear, but no other notable wear. Mass-Market Paperbacks/Featured Rare & Collectible.
