Andros, Phil. Shuttlecock. Perineum Press, 1984. Softbound. $40.

Two by Samuel Steward, a well-connected university professor (he counted Gertrude Stein and Thornton Wilder among his friends) who left academia to become both a South Chicago tattoo artist named Phil Sparrow and a penner of homoerotic fiction named Phil Andros. When the writer was in his 70s, he worked with former Grove Press editor Don Allen to publish these retitled second editions under Gray Fox Press's Perineum imprint, complete with newly commissioned Tom of Finland cover illustrations.

Both books have tight, square, uncreased spines. Both have clean, unmarked interiors, but half-titles and title pages are clipped at the fore-edge head. Light shelf-wear to both. Featured Rare & Collectible.
