Two tales of difficult bohemians in dire straits by the Dominican-born novelist who faded into obscurity in the 1930s only to experience a much-lauded comeback decades later. Featuring soft-deco jackets that sync with Rhys's career arc in their 1970s flapper-chic revival aesthetic and whose flap-copy rhetoric mercilessly describes the books' heroines: 'helpless', 'contemptuous of her own weakness', 'beyond hope of rescue', 'at the end of her rope'.
Both are ex-library books with markings to the top edge, boards, end-sheets, and front matter. Interiors are else clean and unmarked. Both have tight spines with slight leans. No other notable shelf-wear to the books. Jackets are price-clipped and have some light to moderate edge-wear. Fiction.
