The Tree of Life: A Study in Magic
Regardie, Israel. Samuel Weiser, 1991. Softbound. Cover design by Alden Cole. A qabalistic study by the pupil of Aleister Crowley, which filters the teachings through the lenses of Egyptian religion, the exercises in imagination of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and other spiritual practices. Regardie worked as The Beast's secretary for several years before eventually quarreling via correspondence: Crowley, making fun of Regardie's adoption of the name Francis (after St. Francis of Assissi), dismissively addressed him as 'Frank', and Regardie responded by calling Crowley both 'Alice' and 'a contemptible bitch'.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some bumped corners, edge-wear, and very light creasing and soiling to the covers. 284 pp. Western Esotericism.
