The Builders: A Story and Study of Freemasonry
Newton, Joseph Fort. Macoy Publishing, 1946. Hardbound. 'Underneath all [the Mason's] building,' writes Newton, a William James–trained historian of the craft, 'lay the feeling, prophetic of his last and highest thought, that the earthly house of his life should be in right relation with its heavenly prototype, the world-temple imitating on earth the house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.' First published in 1914, this mid-century edition features monochrome plates, full blue cloth with gilt-stamped spine, and a lovely two-color title page.
Square spine. Former owner inscription to front flyleaf, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Gilt to spine remains bright. A couple bumped corners and areas of light edge-wear. Mylar-protected jacket is not price-clipped and is toned/soiled and heavily chipped. 327 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
