The Illustrated Man

The Illustrated Man

$75.00 — Sold out

Bradbury, Ray. Bantam Books, 1988. Softbound. Inscribed by Bradbury to the first (promotional) leaf: 'Fritz! Caroll! / Ray Bradbury'. Prolific cover artist Dean Ellis created the hyperrealist image for this inscribed mass-market paperback (the original casein on illustration board composition sold a decade ago for $45,000), a collection of short stories unified by associating each with an image depicted on the body of a mysterious carny. Ellis experimented with a variety of mediums during his career, including gouache, acrylic, tempura, and oil, and he was commissioned for this Bantam cover by legendary pulp workhorse Len Leone in the late 1960s.

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Only the gentlest of shelf-wear. 186 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
