Truffaut, François and Marcel Moussy. The 400 Blows. Grove Press, 1969 (1st Printing). Softbound. Edited by David Denby. As stated by Grove Film Book Series General Editor Robert Hughes, the original French title of The 400 Blows, Les Quatre Cents Coups, is a colloquialism meaning 'to deliver one's self over to every sort of excess'. This literary adaptation lives up to the name, offering over 100 frame enlargements of stills from the movie, as well as a lengthy supplement collaged of fragments drawn from issues of Cahiers du Cinema, which according to the book's acknowledgements were procured by Jonas Mekas.
