Mommie Dearest
Crawford, Christina. Listen for Pleasure, 1986. Audiocassette. Christina Crawford, who as a child was publicly adopted by screen legend Joan Crawford and would later pursue her own acting career, had a small role in John Cassavetes's 1968 movie, Faces, and was famously and temporarily replaced by her mother in the role of Joan Borman Kane on the soap opera The Secret Storm. Here she reads aloud her notorious tell-all (she would later describe its film adaptation as 'grotesque') in an audiobook directed by Paul Kresh, who produced dozens of recordings of poets including Allen Ginsberg, Gertrude Stein, and W. H. Auden.
Both tapes are in near fine shape, with Sides 3/4 marked with a former owner's notes ('Listen to this side first' / 'Listen to this side last'). Cover has some moderate to heavy edge-wear and a small area of subtle soiling to the front. Featured Rare & Collectible.
