Calvino, Italo. Invisible Cities. Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1978 (Later Printing). Softbound. Cover design by Louise Fili. $15.

Two printings of the same edition of the Calvino classic, offering two very different cover approaches: Skolnick's earlier and much scarcer silvered Fibonacci-scape and Fili's postmodern reframing of a 17th-century woodcut. Both feature the same incredible design to the interior, with architectural headings backed by deep drop-shadows, and both are translated by the great William Weaver, who during his 50-year career, also produced English versions of works by Umberto Eco, Primo Levi, and Pier Paolo Pasolini, as well as numerous poems and opera libretti.
