Baldwin, James. Dell Books, 1970 (7th Dell Printing). Softbound. A chic mass-market edition of the classic fiction collection by Baldwin, who in his senior year of high school, submitted the following yearbook motto: 'Fame is the spur and—ouch!' The cover art is by Oscar Liebman, known for his Broadway theatrical poster work for shows ranging from Gypsy to West Side Story; the atmospheric image shares space with a bold version of Aldo Novarese's Eurostile typeface, created for the Turin-based Nebiolo foundry in 1962.

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Some moderate edge-wear and small areas of chipping. Pages have some light toning. 220 pp. Mass-Market Paperbacks.
