Kerouac, Jack. Panther Books, 1979. Softbound. A charming UK edition of one of Kerouac's heftier novels (clocking in at 366 pages), featuring an uncredited cover depicting an Elton John esque cherub wielding Old Glory and fountain pen. In Seymour Krim's intro, we first see an argument for the stream-of-consciousness innovator's canonization, and Kerouac's pseudonymous documentation of the nascent Beat era in this book is a delight: Allen Ginsberg is thinly disguised as Irwin Garden, author of 'Howling', and William S. Burroughs takes on the persona of Bull Hubbard, whose most notable work is Nude Breakfast.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Only very light shelf-wear. 366 pp. Mass-Market Paperbacks.
