Kandinsky, Wassily and Franz Marc (Eds.). Da Capo Press, 1989. Softbound. Edited and Introduced by Klaus Lankheit. First published in 1912, this eclectic compilation of manifestos, correspondence, musical notations, and nearly 150 illustrations, is, according to the back cover copy, 'one of the pivotal works of 20th-century art history.' In a 1911 letter from Kandinsky to Marc, the Russian painter conceived of the almanac by writing, 'We will put an Egyptian work beside a small Zeh . . . a Chinese work beside a Rouseau, a folk print beside a Picasso . . .'

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Only very gentle edge-wear. 296 pp. Art.
