Ochs, Alice. Something Personal, Volume 1. The Magic Theatre, 1968. Softbound. Author photo by Michael Maggid. An extremely rare publication from the Magic Theatre, which was founded only a year earlier and would go on to become a San Francisco counterculture staple as it fostered the careers of Michael McClure and Sam Shepard. Alice Ochs, wife of protest singer Phil Ochs, here compiles family candids and portraits of the couple's friends, including Bob Dylan, Tiny Tim, Frank Zappa, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and others, and pairs them with stenciled headings and astrological illustrations. Notable for being printed at Frank Westlake's Bindweed Press, which played a formative role in the production of psychedelic rock concert posters.
