Kerouac, Jack. Perigree Books, 1980 (4th Perigree Printing). Softbound. An elegant typographic display to this cover by Holly McNeely: extremely close-spaced type in an autumnal tricolored layout lures the reader into one of Kerouac's heftier novels (it clocks in at 366 pages). The French-Canadian traveloguer revels in pseudonymous cloaking here as he documents the nascent Beat era: Allen Ginsberg is thinly disguised as Irwin Garden, author of 'Howling', and William S. Burroughs takes on the persona of Bull Hubbard, whose most notable work is Nude Breakfast.

Tight, square spine has a horizontal area where the lamination has been cosmetically sliced away from the stock. Former owner name to the inside front cover, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Some areas of very gentle edge-wear and toning to the covers, but no other notable wear. 366 pp. Fiction.
