Valis
Dick, Philip K. Bantam Books, 1981 (4th Printing). Softbound. The first novel in a planned trilogy by Dick, Valis was quickly followed by its sequel, The Divine Invasion, but the writer died before completing the planned third book, The Owl in Daylight. This chic mass-market edition features fantastic cover art referencing the book's bionic and messianic themes, created by the legendary John Berkey, known for his rendering of futuristic transportive devices ('more inspired by luxury yachts and manta rays than NASA', according to Michael Heilemann) and his original poster art for the Star Wars trilogy.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Former seller price to first (promotional) leaf, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Former seller stamp to top edge. Some light toning to the pages, gently bumped corners, and light to moderate edge-wear. 227 pp. Mass-Market Paperbacks.
