Parable of the Talents
Butler, Octavia E. Warner Books, 2001 (1st Mass-Market Printing). Softbound. Cover design by Don Puckey. The second of Butler's Earthseed novels, it was completed with the intention of continuing the saga over the course of several more sequels—tentatively titled Parable of the Trickster, Parable of the Teacher, Parable of Chaos, and Parable of Clay—but none were realized due to writer's block. Lovely first mass-market edition, with cover featuring elaborate gilt-stamped lettering by Ron Zinn and richly textured illustration work by John Jude Palencar, whose art has graced the covers of authors ranging from Lovecraft to Le Guin.
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Former owner inscription to the inside front cover, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Some areas of very gentle edge-wear and a 1.5-inch crease to the back cover at the fore-edge head. 448 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
