The Haunted Man: The Strange Genius of Michael Lindsay
Wilson, Colin. The Borgo Press, 1979. Softbound. Design by Robert Reginald. Cover design by Judy Cloyd. Lindsay's work drew from both gnostic and Norse mythological cosmologies and went on to inspire C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. Despite this, he languished in obscurity and died, according to Darrell Schweitzer, after his house was bombed during World War II, and the trauma caused him to allow 'rotting teeth to develop into cancer of the jaw.' Here, optimistic existentialist Wilson builds a case that Lindsay 'express[ed] the spirit of the age as much as Eliot, Hulme, [and] Lawrence (both D. H. and T. E.).'
Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Areas of light rubbing and sunning to the covers, as well as some very gentle edge-wear. 63 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
