The Mind Parasites
Wilson, Colin. Oneiric Press, 1972. Softbound. When Wilson skewered H. P. Lovecraft as 'sick' and 'a bad writer', August Derleth dared the optimistic existentialist to write what became this novel (Wilson later acknowledged that given sufficient income, Lovecraft's work 'would have been, in some respect, closer to that of Anatole France or . . . Jorge Luis Borges.') First published by Derleth's Arkham House, this Oneiric Press reissue features uncredited Arkham-worthy cover art channeling the Cthulhu mythos revived by Wilson here in what Joanna Russ described as 'one of the worst books I have ever read and very enjoyable, but then I did not have to pay for it.'
Spine is tight, but has a lean and some cosmetic creasing. Clean, unmarked interior. Moderate shelf-wear, including bumped corners and a vertical crease running the length of the front cover. 222 pp. Fiction.
