Cassavetes, John and Al Ruban. Signet Books/New American Library, 1970. Softbound. A chronicle detailing the evolution of the production of a movie that Paul Schrader, at the time, declared had 'a confused on-screen life'; however, it would one day be added to the National Film Registry and described as 'an example of cinematic excess' that revealed 'emotions and relations of power between men and women that rarely emerge in more conventionally structured films.' Lynn Carlin, a script reader with no acting experience (she had recently been fired from a position as Robert Altman's secretary) was cast in the leading role after Cassavetes was pleased with the way she read lines, resulting in her Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.
In lovely shape: tight, square, uncreased spine has a bit of sunning; clean unmarked interior. Only the gentlest of edge-wear. 319 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
