Miller, Henry. The Wisdom of the Heart. New Directions, 1960 (2nd Printing). Softbound. $18.
Miller, Henry. The Wisdom of the Heart. New Directions, 1960 (11th Printing). Softbound. $15.
Two different printings of Miller's classic essay collection (NDP 94), emphasizing the market's shift in format for trade paperbacks and showcasing a pithy cover collage that literally takes the book's title to heart. The design is by Chermayeff & Geismer, first founded in 1957 as Brownjohn, Chermayeff & Geismar; partner Robert Brownjohn, who studied under Moholy-Nagy and struggled with heroin addiction, would soon leave the firm and go on to illustrate a number of classic James Bond title sequences.
Both books have clean, unmarked interiors. The 2nd printing has a tight spine and the 11th's has a slight lean and some cosmetic creasing. Both have some areas of light soiling/foxing to the covers. Creative Nonfiction.
