Dawkins, Richard. The Selfish Gene. Oxford University Press, 1976 (1st Ed., 1st Printing). Hardbound. The book that popularized the gene-centric view of evolution and originated the concept of the meme, featuring incredible jacket design employing an elegant use of Elisha Pechey's 1905 Arts-and-Crafts–inspired Windsor display face and an eye-popping painting by Desmond Morris, titled The Expectant Valley. Although primarily known for his work in zoology, Morris's art career is of equal caliber: he held a 1950 art exhibition with Joan Miró, directed a number of surrealist films, and curated unconventional art shows displaying work by both chimps and human infants.

Tight, square spine. Former owner name to front flyleaf, but interior is else clean and unmarked. Only very gentle shelf-wear to the book. Jacket is not price-clipped and has a few areas of chipping and closed tears at the edges. 224 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
