Features a cover design that opposes solemn typography with high-contrast color blocking by Printed Matter bookshop–founder Pat Steir, who served as art director at Harper & Row and would later befriend Sol LeWitt, Lawrence Weiner, and Agnes Martin, and herself rise to fame as a conceptual artist with a series of X-ed–out paintings she declared were motivated by a desire 'to destroy images as symbols'.
