In the Flesh
Barker, Clive. Poseidon Press, 1986 (1st Ed., 1st Printing). Hardbound. Design by Irving Perkins. Author photo by Geoff Shields. The fifth title in the Books of Blood series, the work that first made a name for Barker, whose sensibility was shaped by witnessing the death of French skydiving performer Léo Valentin at the age of three. Fantastic panoptical cover design by Fred Marcellino, known for his first editions of Barry Hannah's Airships and Tom Wolfe's The Bonfire of the Vanities, and for his style which, according to Steven Heller, innovated 'subtly painted and smartly lettered mini-posters that established allure.'
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Metallic stamping to spine remains bright. Former seller stamp to the bottom edge. Mylar-protected jacket has a sticker obscuring the price and a few small areas of soiling. 221 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
