Man and His Symbols
Jung, Carl G. (Ed.). Anchor Books, 1964 (Later Printing). Hardbound. Coedited by M.-L. von Franz. Design by Michael Kitson. In the fall of 1959, the BBC broadcast a 40-minute interview by journalist John Freeman with the still relatively unknown Jung, then 84, conducted at his home in Küsnacht, Switzerland. The positive public response—as well as a dream the now iconic psychiatrist had, in which he addressed a rapt audience—caused the initially reluctant Jung to participate in this literary popularization of his work. Profusely illustrated with color and monochrome plates and first published by Aldus Books, it would be his final book.
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Gilt to spine and front board remain bright. A very subtle buckle to the text block, which does not affect the book's soundness or readability. Jacket has some light edge-wear and toning as well as a one-inch closed tear. 320 pp. Jung.
