Handmade Houses: A Guide to the Woodbutcher's Art
Boericke, Art and Barry Shapiro. Scrimshaw Press, 1973 (4th Printing). Hardbound. Design by Frederick Mitchell and Judith Whipple. Boericke, a Black Mountain College alum, and Shapiro, a San Francisco street photographer, reteam for this 1979 followup to The Craftsman Builder. 'Outlaw builder' Sim Van der Ryn contributes a foreword ('The dollar is not a reasonable measure of the quality of life or the quality of place,' he writes) to this evocative production by Scrimshaw, who also published R. Crumb's The Yum Yum Book and Alexandra Jacopetti's Native Funk & Flash.
Spine is tight and square. Interior is unmarked. There is a subtle dampstain affecting the front matter and first few pages of text along the top quarter-inch of the top edge. This dampstain also affects the top edge of the jacket, which also has some edge-wear, one small chip, and some light soiling affecting the back. Featured Rare & Collectible.
